About Father's Day (US)
US Father's Day is the third Sunday of June, between June 15 and 21, and the same date is used in the UK, Canada, India, Japan and about 50 other countries. It became a permanent federal observance in 1972, six decades after Mother's Day, which is why it still gets far less retail attention.
It often collides with the US Open golf final round and, every few years, with Juneteenth (June 19); when the two are adjacent, expect banks and post offices closed on the Monday. Australia and New Zealand celebrate on the first Sunday of September instead.
